Evening Primrose is a wild flower native to North America, so called because its flowers open at dusk. Although the plant and its root have a long history of medicinal use, it is only in recent times that the plant's seed oil has been used.The seed oil contains Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), which is naturally produced in the body and is converted to anti-inflammatory prostaglandins that are hormone-like compounds. It is this anti-inflammatory nature of GLA that accounts for its hormone-balancing properties.
